I'm so glad you're all getting a kick out of my rural Amish community. Sometimes I think I'm the only one who appreciates them, I know now that's simply not true. There was a barn-raising around the corner from me this summer. I'm so glad I had the presence of mind to snap a few pics! Enjoy.

Hello Ann
Your photos are wonderful! We often visit St. Jacob's Ontario which is an Amish community & have seen a few barn-raisings on our visits there . They are amazing to watch.
I have always wanted to see a barn raising. Every since I watched "Witness"...is it really like that, with everyone gathering together, sharing food and felloship? Or is it just in the movies?
Okay I have decided you have a large home and you must need a maid or cook. I will eat little and stay out of your way. i will probably be sitting out watching the Amish and you may never know im there. Hehe that work ok?
You have an award at my house. if you like come visit and pick it up!
Ann that goes double for me. Come see me to pick it up.
Rhonda

I was visiting blogs tonite and happened to find yours. I love all the Amish pics. I was born and raised in Lancaster County and now live in the south. I will definitely be back to read more! A very enjoyable visit!

Hi Ann,
I live among the amish, my best friends are amish!
We have been to several barn raisings!
It is amazing that they can get that many guys together to build a barn in one day!
I don't think us english could do that! Do you!
I am enjoying your blog!
